Anti-wrinkle treatment

Botox® is one of the many trade names for botulinum toxin that is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Botulinum toxin has been safely used in the medical profession for many years. Since the 1980’s Botox® has been used successfully in the field of aesthetic/cosmetic medicine. In cosmetic procedures a small amount of diluted botulinum toxin enables deep controlled relaxation of muscles to smooth wrinkles and lines on the face. Botox® can be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines over the upper part of the face such as the forehead, the glabella (frown lines between the eyes) and the lines around the outer corner of the eyes (crow’s feet). Botox is also commonly injected around the mouth, lips, neck, jaw and eyelids.

Botulinum toxin is a chemical produced by the botulinum bacteria. Botox is a protein derivative of the toxin, which, when injected into a muscle, causes it to become weakened or inactivated. It stops the muscle from functioning by blocking neuromuscular transmission i.e. it stops the chemical messages from the nerve to the muscle.

The ageing process causes the slow down of collagen and elastin production in the skin so that as we get older, these areas of over-use become damaged and the lines become permanent. By reducing the movement of muscles in these areas, the skin stops being creased and is allowed to recover, causing the lines to soften or even fade away. In the areas treated, the muscles are temporarily inactivated, during which time the patient can break the subconscious habit of overusing these muscles. Depending on each individual and the dose used, the response to treatment can vary from a relaxation of the muscles to an inability to move the muscles.

For the first couple of years, frequent treatments are required to `re-educate’ the facial muscles. Thereafter, treatments would be less frequent until a yearly maintenance treatment is normally all that is required.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable materials made from a very wide range of materials (usually synthetically-produced hyaluronic acid HA) which are used to smooth out the appearance of facial lines including the cheeks, nasolabial folds (cheek creases), marionette lines (coming down from the mouth), lips, frown lines, forehead furrows, crow’s feet and lip (smoker) lines.

At CF Aesthetic our preferred Dermal Fillers are Juvederm and Teosyal. We have used both brands of Hyaluronic acid fillers for over 8 years and seen fantastic outcomes post treatment.

A topical anaesthetic cream (eg. EMLA or AMETOP) may be applied to reduce discomfort half an hour prior to the treatment. Charlotte or one of the experienced Aesthetic Nurses will then inject the filler into the site to be treated to plump out the skin, repeating as necessary on other areas. It will be gently massaged once it has been injected into the site. The filler then remains in the skin where it binds water to produce a lift and give firmness to the treated areas. The procedure is minimally invasive causing only mild discomfort and will not leave scars.

Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment created by using futuristic NAHYCO technology, which helps create a gel which can be injected with a prolonged positive effect on the skin. 

Upon injection, your skin cell receptors are stimulated which act to enhance firmness of the skin, providing long-lasting improvement of your skin structure and appearance.

Profhilo is known to have a comparatively prolonged effect on the dermal cells, stimulating four variants of collagen and elastin during the gradual release of hyaluronic acid.

Injections are performed at five different points in the face, however, Profhilo is often especially effective in lifting the lower regions of the face.

DermaPen

DermaPen is a skin micro-needling treatment with minimum downtime which promotes scarless healing and natural collagen production in the skin to improve the appearance of scars, acne scarring, stretch marks, wrinkles, pigmentation and rejuvenate the skin.

A DermaPen treatment is an effective way to improve acne scarring and imperfections on the skin, the biggest benefit is the improvement in overall skin tone and texture that come about after the treatment, along with the minimised appearance of pores in the skin, reduced superficial wrinkles and reduced appearance of stretch marks.

LED facials

PRP Facial

How it works
3D cryo freeze specifically targets the fat cells. By lowering the temperature to – 6 degrees it pinpoints the content of the fat cells, causing them to crystallize. No other structures are affected by this process. The remaining content of the fat cells is then disposed of naturally through the body’s lymphatic system. 3D cryo freeze is a unique, non-invasive treatment that uses a combination of electro and cryotherapy. Using the 3D cryo freeze handpiece, this creates a vacuum which draws the fat into the handpiece. Cavitation
What happens to the released fat?

3D cavitation is a simple procedure that simply relies on technology to target and flush fat from your body instead of intensive and invasive surgery. During the 3D cavitation treatment, the membranes of the fat cells are disrupted through non-invasive machinery. The low-frequency sound waves, and in some cases: light suction, heats and vibrates the targetted layers of fat below the skin’s surface. The fat cell content, primarily comprised of triglycerides, is dispersed into the fluid between the cells and then transported through the vascular and lymphatic systems to the liver. The liver makes no distinction between fat coming from the 3D cavitation treatment and fat originating from consumed food. The pressure eventually causes the fat cells to liquefy and release their contents into the bloodstream and both are processed by the body’s natural mechanisms.

Proponents of the procedure believe that the body is then able to process these fatty acids through its proverbial waste-disposal plant: the lymphatic system.

3D RF technology – Skin tightening
3D RF (radio frequency) technology is a fantastic treatment for both skin tightening and cellulite removal. The 3D Body RF energy selectively increases the temperature of the fat cells, by doing so simultaneously in deep and superficial layers of fat. This increases the metabolism and release of liquid fat from fat cells. Normal cells can support 60 degrees but fat cells start to be melted at 41 degrees. After the treatment and release of liquid fat, the fat cells shrink in size, and skin is restored closer to its original form, reducing or eliminating the appearance of cellulite.

Shockwave
Our 3D shockwave treatment stimulates circulation and targets fat cells in your body’s problem areas and can be adapted to target both skin tightening and cellulite removal. This treatment can work alone or be combined with other 3D Ultimate offerings to aid and increase fat removal and skin tightening.

For Cellulite:
3D shockwave uses sound waves to stimulate the microcirculation within the fat layer, increasing the metabolic function of the area and increasing cellular membrane permeability. Free fatty acids and glycerol are released from the fat cells and sit in the intercellular space. Lymphatic movement and increased blood supply remove these waste products from the body.

For skin tightening:
Sound waves stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation within the area. They also stimulate the connective tissue and septa mobility, giving the skin a firmer tone and reducing the dimples within the skin.

Aftercare

Botox Aftercare

You can help activate the Botox by gently exercising the muscles that have been treated i.e. frown or smile as frequently as possible.

• Some patients experience slight discomfort around the treatment area for a short time after treatment
• Bruising can be avoided or minimised by avoiding aspirin and alcohol for 24 hours pre & post treatment
• You may experience temporary swelling or bruising around the site of treatment. This will usually settle within a day or two. Some patients can experience a headache following treatment for which you may take paracetamol
• The results are not permanent and the duration will differ from patient to patient
• The treatment usually takes 4-10 days to take effect
• Side effects, if they occur, are temporary and mild to moderate

The most common reported side effects

• Tenderness
• Bruising
• Temporary headache
• Dropping of the eye lid or bow
• Excessing watering of the eye
• Mild inflammation of the surface of the eye

Less common side effects

• Inflammation of the surface of the eye
• Eversion or inversion of the eyelids
• Light sensitivity/double vision
• Dizziness, rash, tiredness
• Facial weakness/drooping/asymmetry
• Allergic reaction

Filler Aftercare

If you have been offered any additional or different instructions please follow the advice listed below. The effect of your treatment is immediate. Filler can be slightly mobile for a few hour following the procedure so it is important that you keep facial movements minimal and do not rub or massage the area for the rest of the day. Immediately after treatment it is quite normal for there to be slight redness, swelling and tenderness around the treated area. These signs will gradually disappear in a few days. Wash and dry your face with gentle patting movements. It is possible that you may be able to feel or see where the product has been placed for about two weeks following treatment. As the filler gradually incorporates into the matrix of your skin, these signs will lessen. If you have had stronger, more uplifting filler, it is possible that the filler will be palpable for longer.

Please avoid the use of makeup for the rest of the day to prevent the introduction of infection to the injection sites.

Do not have facial beauty treatments or massage for two weeks following treatment and avoid exposure to strong sunlight, very cold temperatures, saunas and solariums for the same length of time.

If there is discomfort following treatment you may take paracetamol. Avoid the use of aspirin, ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory drugs as these may increase the risk of bruising.

Lip treatment generally takes a little longer to settle and may feel tender and appear uneven-this will gradually resolve itself within the first week and should not affect the final result.

There is a chance of bruising with filler treatment, caused bother though injection and sometimes through the pressure of the product on capillaries under the skin. Bruising may be apparent at the time of treatment or may develop later and may be anything from more likely mild, to moderate. This is an unfortunate side effect of filler treatments. Bruising will subside in time and the use of arnica cream can sometimes be helpful. Cool compresses for two days following treatment can help. After two days, warm compresses will encourage blood supply to remove traces of the bruise.

Although your treatment result is immediate the overall result will look much better in about two weeks when any trauma has subsided and the plumping effect of the product has really started to take effect.
